Café-Croissant will be on Saturday 2 August. We will be meeting at 9:30am at Peak House, near Havelock North. There is plenty of space to park before you arrive at the cafe.
It's a great opportunity for breakfast and chat in French, Frenglish or French. There will be a French speaking part of the table avec un petit drapeau français! RSVP to Barbara by Thursday 31 July and include whether you would like croissants. Notre "Café-Croissant" vous permet de rencontrer des francophiles tout en prenant le petit-déjeuner ! From start (the opening credits, styled like a menu) to finish (a jaunty two-hand scene in front of the Eiffel Tower), it's light and delicious fun." - The NZ Herald Cette comédie culinaire sous influence "L'Aile ou la cuisse" est une agréable surprise." - Ecran Large |
August's film
This month's film is a culinary comedy! We start each Ciné-Club in the cinema entry foyer from 6:00pm. Focal Point will be selling $10 glasses of wine and providing complimentary bread and cheese. The film starts at 6:30pm and supper is available afterwards at Pipi's café (please note on your registration if interested) Tuesday 12 August, Focal Point Cinema, Havelock North. Cost: $10 for members, $15 for non-members Le Chef - Comme un Chef (2012) M - 80 minutes Comedy French with English subtitles Jean Reno plays a veteran chef in this French gastronomic comedy, facing off against his restaurant's CEO who wants to bring in a younger replacement. "Star chef Alexandre Lagarde (Reno) is in serious conflict with Stanislas Matter (Julien Boisselier), the new CEO of the group that owns his restaurant. Matter is plotting to have him lose one Michelin star in the next edition of the Guide, and replace him with a young 'modern' chef who advocates a chemical, molecular cuisine. Lagarde has run out of ideas... but as luck would have it, he meets Jacky (Michaël Youn) - an aficionado of haute cuisine."

We are looking for someone(s) to organise Berets on Bicycles later this year. It would involve: Deciding on a suitable cycle route(s), choosing winery/wineries for people to visit along the way and finding working out the cost for this along with taking registrations.
Our Treasurer Roger can handle the financial side. To view past Berets on Bicycles click here to see where they went and what was involved. |

Monday 14 July
This year's annual Fête nationale - French celebration was at Valley D'Vine Restaurant on Monday 14 July. Association Française de Hawke’s Bay provided buses from the middle of Havelock North via Hastings and the middle of Napier to the Valley D'Vine Restaurant. We had an enjoyable evening at Valley D'Vine on Monday and appreciated the effort that Greg and his team went to for the night. Un grand merci goes to Roger for his organisation of this event and to the committee members who went out to decorate the venue. Click on the button to see the photos |
